Q: iTunes music videos won't group with artist

In the past, when I added a music video to my iTunes library on my Mac Mini media server, it would list with the music of the artist. For instance, if I uploaded a music video by Sting it would then be listed under artists, "Sting." Since I selected the genre "Music Video" it would be included in a group titled Music Video.

Tonight, I uploaded a couple of music videos by Annie Lennox and instead of being listed with my Annie Lennox music, each video had it's own listing under Artists and was not included with the music listings. I checked all the tags and nothing appears different from any other music videos I've uploaded in the past.

Thinking that perhaps iTunes was acting up, I deleted the videos from my library, quit iTunes, and even restarted the Mac Mini. After everything restarted, I again uploaded the files and the result was the same.

I've played around with these for a quite a while this evening but can't think what on earth is happening nor how to correct the behavior.

Which "view" of your Music library are you using?  And by that, I mean the control at the far right end of the horizontal bar in iTunes.  Songs, Albums, Artists, etc.

I'm viewing by Artist. All my other listings are correct. That is, each artist's music videos are listed with their music albums.

I've not had this problem in the past. When I add any of Anne Lennox's videos, they each have their own Anne Lennox listing. In other words, in the left most pane, where artists are listed, Anne Lennox is listed once for her albums but also for each video, so I end up with Anne Lennox listed multiple times in the artist list.

Interestingly, when I check where those videos are stored in the Finder, they're all in the same folder as the music and labeled "Anne Lennox." Furthermore, there's only one Anne Lennox folder in the finder. Obviously, iTunes is storing the media properly but iTunes isn't listing it correctly.

I may try to import another artist's video to see if the anomaly happens with someone else.

I know this is weird. I'm by no means a newbie to any of this. I just hit a wall with coming up with possible solutions and thought I'd try here for ideas.

    Hi,

I was just wondering if you found a solution to your problem. I am having the same issue.

    Thanks

    Dave

I seems I have more or less the same issue with Apple TV2 and iTunes on Windows 10.

Since a while new added videos of the same artist do show up on the Apple TV as separate artists. In iTunes I've checked numerous times that the artist and the album artist are identical. But yesterday I added a new video of an already existing artist with multiple video clips, and this new video to my surprise showed together with the already existing ones, not adding a new name.

I have not done extensive testing on this issue, but I tried several things never getting around it. Although it is not a critical issue, it is really ugly and frustrating.
