Q: Reformatting a HD w/ 64-bit Windows 7 to 32-bit Snow L. Mac Extended
I own two 13-inch Macbooks (2006 & 2010). {And a G3 OS 9 Blue Tower}
I wish to reformat the hard drive in the 2006 machine, however the 2006 has been formatted to 64-bit Windows 7.
It was briefly utilized in a brand-x pentel-processored machine.
I tried erasing the HD in the brand-x pentel machine but it keeps a start-up reserve
for a 64-bit machine, staying in MS-DOS format. Obviously it will not work in the 2006 Macbook chasis (32-bit).
I've tried putting it in t-mode and attaching to the 2010 machine via Firewire
but I've since learned why that will not work, as a Mac OS key command will not get recognized by the MS-DOS format, OR WILL IT
with another start up command?
I'd like to reformat the 2006 so to link it to the 2010 machine via Firewire.
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), & Mac OS 9 G3 Blue Tower

TY for reading my post BUT an APPLE CSR told me a drive formatted w/ 64-bit software
will not work in 32-bit; and after trying the exact suggestion MY GINGER made onto me weeks ago...I attest the CSR's words were spot on.
[I put the drive into the 2010 machine ( the dvd-writer works on the 2010 but not in the 2006 ) with a Snow Leopard DVD,
in efforts of installing the OS or opening Disk Utility but because the drive has meta-data on it of a 64-bit nature (and of MS-DOS) nothing would initiate. I held down the C key in two attempts and the 64-bit meta-data still present on the drive wouldn't allow
anything to override it.]
In addition, 64-bit software will not default to a 32-bit OS when
32-bit peripherals are trying to jump start it; a 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium version.
Perhaps Microsoft Windows 7 Professional will morph from 64 to 32, I don't know for certain.
I understand Microsoft made 32-bit and 64-bit software versions separately.
