Q: partition missing

Hello wonder if anyone can help, try to make it brief and easy to read

Recently purchased a Macbook pro, wanted windows 10 so followed the guides online to do so. Got to the phase where it prompts you to format the appropriate drive to continue and this is where i messed up. I quit the process assuming I should of formatted the usb drive prior to this step... however after doing this, I lost the storage space due to the partition i.e. I allocated 125gb for windows out of the 400gb odd i had remaining but when i closed down the installation it i still had 125gb missing as there was only 275 free out of 300 max... I tried to fix it on my own and done more damage than good I think as i now can't open up bootcamp as it is saying it has to be formatted to one dis (journal)... i did not have a time capsule backup thing so now i want to know if restoring to factory default would be a wise option... had the macbook pro for 2/3 days nothing on it except music so far.

Furthermore i tried to be crafty and do another partition to try and get to the installation window again so i could see and delete the old and larger partition i made... which is why I'm thinking its better to just rip everything off and save me of repeating or making new mistakes

If theres a better option and/or this option won't work anyway I'm all ears for some help.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this =)

how long should it take approx. or is it subjective.. In the mean time i wouldn't mind gaining a better understanding of the processes you suggested in order to get to this stage. Perhaps some resource material for me to sink my teeth into if that's asking a bit too much. I just like getting to know and understand  things to be honest =D

    Under Option A,

    1. Merge all partitions to create a contiguous space, which we completed.

    2. A CS volume on a Mac is required for FileVault or it could have been created by OSX. If it is revertible, we remove the CS container and expose the JHFS+ file system. FV2 is currently being reverted.

    3. Merge Recovery HD and then extend the JHFS+ volumes to cover the entire disk. This will give you all your space back.

    4. We can leave it this way, install Windows, and then re-enable FV2 on the OSX partition. FV2 does not work with Windows.

Let it finish. If diskutil cs list shows no entries, it is complete. It is hard to just sit there and wait. Check at about 15 minute intervals.

Unless you write a shell script with a loop construct, Terminal will not repeat any commands automatically.

where it says "reverting" i was under the impression that it would eventually say "complete" or indicate it was. I also thought that was what i was waiting for... was that never the case

When a CS volume is reverted, the CS container is no longer necessary, and it exposes the underlying JHFS+ file system. If the CS container is not in place, diskutil cs list will return nothing.
