Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 27" Apple Thunderbolt display to use with my 15" 2012 Macbook Pro running Win10/Boot Camp. Does anyone know the procedure to get the display to work with Bootcamp/Windows 10? Is there a setting in Boot Camp that has to be turned on in order for it to work? I have the monitor connected but cannot get a desktop display.  Any help would be truly appreciated! TY

The monitor should have a TB and power adapter connector. Does the monitor work on the OSX side.? If yes, shutdown down Windows, connect monitor and boot Windows. Your 2012 TB monitor is not plug-and-play with Windows.

Please see Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ) - Apple Support .

    1. Are Thunderbolt devices “hot pluggable” using Windows with Boot Camp?

Thunderbolt hot plug is supported under Windows 8 or 8.1 on all 2014 and later Mac computers.

For all other Mac computers, Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 scans and activates Thunderbolt devices connected to Thunderbolt ports only during the Windows startup process. If your device was not plugged in at start up, Windows will not detect it without a restart.

Thank you for your  suggestion Loner T! I'm not at that location right now but will try it first thing tomorrow and post an update. Also, the Macbook Pro is a 2012 model; the 27" Display is 2015 - but I think that's what you meant to say Thanks again...

Yes, that is what I meant. I have a 2012 13-in MBP and a 27-in TB monitor. I have to reboot into Windows (normal for a Bootcamp/Windows installation) to have the TB monitor work.

Greetings LT; it worked like a charm! I booted in to OSX first to check - as suggested - and MBP recognized it immediately. I then did the same for Boot Camp/Window 10 and it worked. Hope this is helpful to the many using Boot Camp with this configuration. Many thanks again Loner T and Happy Holidays!

Merry X'Mas and Happy New Year. Please ensure you back up OSX and Windows, so you can avoid the Elves inside your Mac.
