Q: unable to enter username when connecting to wifi

When trying to connect to wifi at work, I am prompted to enter a username and password.  I am unable to enter a username - when I go to that field nothing happens.  I have no issues entering a password, but without a username I an stuck.  What do I do?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.1

OK, I finally figured it out (thanks to a friend who used to work at an Apple Store).  If you go into settings and click "reset all settings" it should fix the issue.  You will have to re enter wifi passwords, fingerprints, etc.  You won't lose any data or anything else though.

Got the issues resolved, after restarting the phone had to toggle the user name and password fields couple of times..

No, that only fixes it the first time you log into the wifi.

the next time you try to log in  issue resurfaces. Having to reset  your settings on a daily basis is not a solution.

I only had to do it the one time and I haven't had the issue since.  Looks like not everyone's situation is the same.

For as long as I stayed logged in it worked. No issues at all. But I went out of the building long enough to for my login session to be killed, and when I came back it asked me to log in again as it always does and this is when the issue resurfaced.

To check, I then reset settings so I could log in. Repeated the session being killed, and then as expected couldnt log back in.

It appears that if you have to complete the full login process, thats when the issue reappears.

Had this issue as well. I manage to solve it when i disable to auto login option in the network settings. Then when i'm connected to the WiFi, i use Safari to enter the username and password.

I accidentally said this answer helped me, I have IOS 9 on an Iphone6 and exactly the same problem - hotel networks are a big part of my work needs and this is a pig, apple needs to sort it - the toggling back and forth thing has no effect on my situation, really unhappy

I was able to fix the issue at my side by removing the Swiftkey keyboard app. As soon as i removed the app i was able to enter username field again...

I too was having this problem and I also had SwiftKey. I uninstalled and, just for good measure, restarted my phone. When I tried to login into my cable provider's Wi-Fi hotspot, I was able to enter my user ID and password and get logged in.

    Thanks KiMDe!

Thanks for the resolution - I didn't need to uninstall SwiftKey, just select the default Apple keyboard until I had logged in, then set it back to SwiftKey.

Problem solved. Go to Settings > WiFi and click the blue info button to the right of the WiFi network giving you the issue. Disable Auto-Login. Then open Safari and open/refresh a website. The sign in should pop up. If nothing loads, then go to the website of who ever that network belongs to. For example, I had this issue at a Super 8 motel. I disabled the Auto-Login, then went to Safari and nothing worked. Then I typed in www.Super8.com. Boom! Sign in came up and it works.
