Q: Contacts not syncing on OS X Yosemite with iOS.

I had recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to OS X El Capitan and I am unable to sync my iPhone's contact with my Macbook. I know that I can sync it in iCloud, but is there another way where I don't have to go through iCloud? Just like before the upgrade, all synchronisation ok and fine. Now, after I had turn off my iCloud backup for contacts, I had lost all my contacts, and have to get them  all back from iCloud. Please help.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

Have you tried turning off iCloud syncing and then using iTunes to sync?

Yes, I had tried it. I turned off "Contacts Sync" in my iCloud Drive from my iPhone and in my Macbook, and it is still the same.

I was having the same problem and after much searching I looked at the "Info" section under my iOS device in iTunes. With "Info" selected, I found that "Sync Contacts" was not checked. I checked it and clicked on "Apply" at the lower right part of the iTunes window. After that Contacts were syncing. In my old OS (10.6.8) I didn't have this problem. After installing iOS 9.2 on my iPad and iPhone, I had to upgrade to OS 10.11.1 and that is when my problems started with Contacts. In any case, I hope this helps.
