Q: iMac 27" Retina, AMD Radeon R9 M290x, Windows 7 display resolution

I don't want to upgrade win 7 to win 10 now. the imac is late 2014 retina display. I worry about the upgrading might result in a mess b/c I'm not tech savvy.

All I need is to get a higher resolution, currently I have 3820 only.

Is there anyway I can do to improve the resolution without upgrade to win 10, but just update boot camp driver or AMD drivers.

Can I suggest that you try the newer drivers from the BC6 packages intended for the 2015 iMack 5Ks?

HI Loner T,

thanks for your help in figuring out Win 10 in El Capitian late 2015 iMac.

For this late 2014 iMac, i'm kind of frustrated with the Windows 7 resolution that never get to Retina.

Could you be a little more detail about how to getting the newer BC6 drivers in?

1. Please create a Windows System Restore point.
2. Download https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier and get the drivers for the 2015 iMacs using the model identifiers mentioned in Identify the model of your iMac - Apple Support . Please see an example at How do I get bootcamp 6.1 / AMD 15.201.2001.0 drivers .
3. Install the GPU driver as shown in the linked discussion and test. If you are not happy with the driver, you can always restore back to the System Restore point created in step 1.
