Q: Upgrade to El Capitan

I am currently using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on a MacBook Pro 13 inch, Early 2011.

 

It started the download of the upgrade to El Capitan but has stopped and become frozen. I am now unable to download the upgrade.

    Hey JLC313,

    Sorry to hear you are having issues with downloading OS X El Capitan from the Mac App Store. Let's see what can be done to get you upgraded. 

    Now you have 2 options to see what is going on. The first option is going to be try a different user on your MacBook Pro. This will help identify if you are having an issue with your user or if it system wide. The second option would be trying in Safe Mode. By starting your Mac up in Safe mode, it will launch on the required software to run and try the download there. For the steps on how to do all of this, take a look at the article below.
