Dec 18, 2015 9:18 AM in response to hhfjhskjhafby Allan Eckert,In order to tell you which version of OS X your Mac will support you either must tell us more details.
Your comment about "I can't use the app store as i need the 10.9 version" does not make any sense since the App Store was released with 10.6.6.
You are correct that there are no updates for 10.7.5. What you need to do is open the App Store and purchase El Capitan.

Dec 18, 2015 9:25 AM in response to Allan Eckertby hhfjhskjhaf,Sorry about that, all i really know is I'm on an old macbook and when i click on "about this mac" it says MAC OS X version 10.7.5, i hope this is enough info, my problem is when i try and download an app i want to use (Garageband) it says i need version 10.9, but I've tried to update to El Captain but its not compatiable, how could i get the version required for the app store, or could you even tell me how i could get garage band for the older version? Sorry I'm noob so hopefully this all makes sense

Dec 18, 2015 9:30 AM in response to hhfjhskjhafby Phil0124,The OS version you are running is not enough,
You need to tell us the model or year of the Macbook you have exactly.
In About This Mac, there should be a year displayed. Or an identifier in the form of X,Y where X and Y are numbers Alternatively, click on System Report, and tell us the model number from there.
If the App Store is telling you that El Capitan is not compatible, then its not, and you won't be able to run the new version of Garageband,

Dec 18, 2015 9:42 AM in response to hhfjhskjhafby Phil0124,Unfortunately, your MacBook is not capable of running anything past OSX 10.7.5 Lion. If you need to run a newer version of Garage Band you'll need a newer computer.

Dec 18, 2015 9:43 AM in response to hhfjhskjhafby Niel,None. All newer Mac OS X versions are incompatible with MacBooks earlier than the MacBook5,1.

Dec 18, 2015 9:57 AM in response to hhfjhskjhafby Allan Eckert,If you search the web there are sites that claim to have copies of Garageband for 10.7.5.
Personally I don't trust any of them because I have had to help others repair the damage done to their Mac after using those sites.
I leave to choose up to you. If you want a copy of Garageband bad enough to risk your system that is your decision.

Dec 18, 2015 10:11 AM in response to hhfjhskjhafby Phil0124,There is a way but unfortunately in only works with Mountain Lion and above.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
Lion is just too old at this point.
