Of course you need to be very careful with any use of Terminal.

Open a terminal window and type the following command:

sudo nvram boot-args="mbasd=1"

Enter your password and then reboot - the drive should work.

Note: you need to be a computer administrator and you need a password for this to work.

Why would you want to? The Apple USB Superdrive is overpriced and offers no advantages over third party units costing one third as much.
