Q: I just bought an album and as it was downloading it froze up.

  • I have an iMac, OS 10.6.8
  • As I was downloading a newly purchased music album from iTunes, my iMac froze up and then started playing an entirelystrange tune.
  • I tried to close out but was afraid of losing the download entirely.
  • Any suggestions?

    Hello gm1555,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that iTunes has become unresponsive when downloading a purchased album from the iTunes Store.  I suggest you force iTunes to quit, and then relaunch iTunes.  If you do not see your download, then you can simply go to your previous purchases and download it again.

Force an app to close on your Mac

    On a Mac or PC

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Click Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    3. Click your name and select Purchased from the menu.
    4. Click "Not in My Library" to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
    5. Scroll to find the item that you want to download.
    6. Click the Download icon   in the upper-right corner of the item that you want to download. Your song downloads to your library.
If a song is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.

    Download your past purchases

    Take care.
