Q: Not all photos uploaded to Photos (cloud) from iPhoto

Hi,

I have a mid 2009 iMac and have iPhoto loaded with 77GB of photos loaded into it.

I followed the instructions to migrate my images to Photos in the cloud.

Seemed to work fine.

However - it has not uploaded dozens of my latest images which have been in my library for over a month.

Have no idea how to kickstart the process. I believe - though I cannot document beyond a shadow of a doubt - that they were there for the initial migration.

I realize it takes day for the process to work initially - but it seemingly finished 3 weeks ago.

I'm confident the process has stopped.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

What is the state of the upload as shown by Photos?

Is there still a progress bar in the Photos > Preferences > iCloud panel?

What is shown at the bottom of the Photos view?

Does it say "updated" or or does it say uploading?

Fir example my library is showing "Updated just now", indicating that all photos have been uploaded.

When I look at Photos > Preferences > iCloud panel - It says "Updated just now". BUT it does not show the test album I made the morning. It shows NO progress bar.

As an example - it shows pictures through April of this year - but non after.

I have 200GB of storage available with 149GB available. That number clashes with the 77GB library size on my computer - which confirms the fact something whacky is going on.

Attached is a screen capture of my photos pref pane.

Doesn't give me any size or photos info.

I just found some more numbers...

iPhoto (old app: local): 7972 items

    Photos (Cloud): 7061 Images + 157 videos

    Definitely a discrepancy.

Your issues is not with uploading to iCloud Photo Library - that is complete

Your issue is with the migration from iPhoto to Photos - that has nothing to do with ICPL

How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

Can you identify photos that are missing form the migrated library by looking at iphoto and photos

I know which ones are missing - therein lies the problem.

The document you pointed me to gives no hint as to how to fix the situation and make them appear in photos.

To clarify - they do not exist on a camera or something I can plug back into my computer. They exist in my iphoto library.

How do I get them to Photos?

Are you sure that Photos migrated the correct iPhoto Library? Where is your iPhoto Library stored? Photos might have migrated an older library in your Pictures folder and not the library you had been using, if that library is on your external drive.

Export a few of the missing photos from your iPhoto Library with Kind Original and try to import the exported photos to your Photos Library.  If they are already in your Photos Library you should get a duplicate warning.

To check, if your Photos library contains photos that cannot upload to iCloud Photo Library create a smart album with the rule "Photo is unable to upload to iCloud Photo Library.

Worst case is to export them from iPhoto and then import to Photos
