Your battery is dead. With the computer running on ac power what is the battery info reporting in System Profiler?

    • About Mac notebook batteries -- Apple Support

Sometimes, if both the battery and MagSafe adapter are tested good or

known to be new, a third item may be the cause of the problem... the

MagSafe Board aka the DC-in Board. This can become partially defective

so as to allow power to some aspect of the computer and not the other.

Depending on the specific build model MacBook (older 2006 to 2010)

the part and access may vary; you could check into the correct repair

guide from ifixit.com to see what kind level of effort may be involved.

There often is a different construct for accessing this across the years.

You could get a replacement battery from vendors such as Macsales.com

or other that match the correct specification in your model. Also the power

adapter can be higher output than original, but not lower. Newer usually is

backward compatible to the older Magsafe. Depending on specific version.

Also note in the Apple support article covering Troubleshooting MagSafe in

section about inspecting all those tiny pins in the connector to see if they

are dirty, burned looking, or otherwise not connecting power. The ones in

the computer may be dirty, which may affect power to battery, & so on.

    Good luck & happy computing!
