    Hi

    Your PC must be running itunes software 12.3.1

    But since ios 7 you can do almost everything over your WiFi without your pc.

    We have 3 iphones/ 4 ipads havent used our PC for them for over 2 years .

    All updates software & apps done over WiFi .

    Try to reboot iPad Air 2 holding home and wake/sleep button simultaneously till Apple logo appears. In the same time, reboot your PC, open iTunes and only then connect your iPad

    Thanks All,

        I do have the latest iTunes.  Tried connecting to my pc again today.  It appeared to connect then froze again.  Unplugged the usb, plugged back in, waited, said that it was trying, so I just let it go ahead.  It attempted several times, no succss.  Left it connected, turned off the ipad, turned it back on while connected and waited a full minute or two - Success!

        Not sure if it will work in he future but OK for now.
