Q: Moved masters in Aperture. Now using Photos. Need help consolidating.

I used aperture before and moved the Masters to an external hard drive to save space. After updating the OS to El Capitan, aperture is no longer supported. I'm not using just Photos. I am again running out of disc space. How can I put my pics back in one organized library again so that I can move stuff to the external drive without a lot of confusing locations? Please help!

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Sorry, I don't understand. What are you using right now?

Have you migrated your Aperture library to Photos? Are you still using Aperture?  What happened to your referenced image files in Aperture?

If you migrated a referenced library to Photos, it would have kept your referenced originals as referenced, unless the external drive with your referenced files is not formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled).
