Q: My Mac keeps asking me for my iCloud Password, is that normal?

My Mac prompts me for my iCloud Password when I boot up and during my current session...even when I have already checked it to remember my password in my Keychain.  It certainly asks me every time I reboot and start up, is there anyway to fix this problem?  Even when I enter the wrong password, it doesn't matter.  It just wants me to enter something.  I just want it to stop prompting me for the password.  I selected that it remember the password in the keychain, and it still asks me for the password.  Does anyone else have this sort of problem out there?  How do I fix it?

After 4 years as a Mac user (and iPhone user) I have decided to go back to  Microsoft. There are many things about Mac that i like (for instance, being almost 'impervious' to malware - or so I am told) but some  problems never seem to be resolved. Moving a file or folder has always been a pain in the neck! (Try dragging a file or folder from the desktop to an external HDD and see what I mean.) Files are 'locked' even when I have never used that feature. Trying to move a file or a folder to an external HDD is often a hit or miss affair. Last night, I almost ran my fist into my Mac! A computer I can replace, but my poor fist ?

I have 4 external drives - my mac has refused to recognise 3 of them - this happened gradually and in succession and I've had to buy a new one every time my Mac refuses to recognise the one I was using as a backup. I am now on tenterhooks - never knowing when it will decide not to recognise my 4th HDD and if that happens - there goes my backup! (I'm not into cloud backups because I'm not convince they are secure.)  Each HDD costs about $100 - that's $300 down the drain so far! Now this pop-up issue. After using FileVault - without warning - something went awry and I had to de-crypt the internal HDD and begin all over again - waisting many hours. My Mac now runs like a old horse on three legs! The start-up takes ages (the pop-up adds to the delay). Apple doesn't seem to give a sh-t about complaints because I see the same problem being brought up on forums. (Perhaps they're too busy counting the billions they're making).

While some things on the Mac are simple - others can be utterly confounding to the general end user - even after receiving advice on how to fix the problem (just look at the responses on this forum.)

Anyway - I'm now re-acquainting myself with Windows and looking into which android smartphone I should buy. I  once swore by Apple products. These days I'm a little more ambivalent. The frustration is just too much to bear.

I agree. After seeing the microsoft Surface I wondered why I ever went to MAC. Prior to 2011 I had  a  12" Sony Vaio (way before their time). Never a problem until one day it totally crashed. My kids talked me into a MAC. I am constantly planning trips to the Apple store. (planning bec. it is always crowded)  Apple has done the best marketing job in history of any product in the world.  I have a galaxy note ll phone bec. they had large screens way before Apple. It has a better camera and a better screen especially for using Google Maps. But more of a hassle to send photos to mac etc...

I wish I had the guts to totally switch. P.S. The new Nexus Google phone is the bargain of the century with a  better screen, camera and video than Apple. And much cheaper.  Good Luck!

After using Macs since 1985 you have me nearly convinced to change to another platform. I am tired of checking the internet before upgrading or buying new Apple software and products - feeling more like an unpaid guinea pig for this company. Thinking different now makes sense, like never before!

I had this problem.  iCloud setting all working, calendar and iphotos updating but I could log into change settings and iCloud kept asking for password.

I resolved it by logging out of iMessage and FaceTime then log out of iCloud and log back in.

Keychain seems to have gotten messed up when changing password.
