Jun 17, 2014 3:36 PM in response to HarrMelby Carolyn Samit,Instead of using a third party cleaning utilitiy that can cause more problems than not, better to backup your important data then erase the disk and restore OS X.
Might want to check the health of the startup disk as well.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If Disk Utility reports errors, start up from your Mac install disc to make repairs.
