Dec 21, 2015 8:55 AM in response to yoolumby den.thed,You using your home network..? If so, try using a direct ethernet cable connection between the computers.
If the choices at > How to transfer data from a PC to a Mac - Apple Support are not working, then manually moving your data over is likely the best solution.

Dec 21, 2015 9:47 AM in response to den.thedby yoolum,Hi. I was using an ethernet direct connection. I have also tried over wifi, but same thing happens. I have also tried access my Mac Mini from the PC, but weven though the Mac Mini appears on the network seen by the PC, I cannot log in to my Mac Mini that way, even tough I turned on remote access/sharing in the System Preferences on my Mac Mini. So I'm at a loss as to what else to try

Dec 21, 2015 12:48 PM in response to yoolumby woodmeister50,On your laptop, you should probably do a "chkdsk" and make sure there
are no file, directory, or other disk problem problems. Usually the case
when any sort of transfer hangs from a Windows machine. Some file or directory that
hasn't been touched in a while could be messed up.

Dec 21, 2015 1:07 PM in response to woodmeister50by yoolum,Mmmm. The CHKDSK utility won't run, which in itself is of course a problem. Looks like I will have to resort to manual transfer, unless I can get the mchines to recognise each other and allow access!
