Once again, telling a happy Aperture user to explore Lightroom is like telling a happy Mac user to explore Windows.
Can you get the same things done? Sure. But if you're grown to love and appreciate a well-designed, Mac-native application you're in for some serious disappointment when you switch to Adobe's one-size-fits-all, everything-but-the-kichen-sink approach to workflows and user interface design.
Do you have an alternative to offer?

Dec 21, 2015 9:17 AM in response to rodphotoby Gerald Gifford,Apple is bugging the crap out of me to upgrade from Yosemite. (Wish I could turn off those reminders!)
Has there been a clear answer about using Aperture under El Capitan? Does it impair any of Aperture's features?

If I did, I wouldn't be here venting my frustration at Apple.

Apple benefits from all the free publicity they receive when customers like me tell others how great their products are. The converse is also true, when unhappy customers share their negative experiences with others, in forums like this.
Once again I am puzzled at your level of participation in this thread, given your previous admission:
" I hate digital photography as a medium. It's for record keeping, no more."
For you to opine on Aperture is comparable to an Amish person debating the relative merits of the latest iPhone model.

Dec 21, 2015 9:51 AM in response to AFS_BRby Badunit,Media Pro looks like a good management app. I'm curious how it works with non-destructive editing apps like Aperture?

Real picture taking is best done on film
What you want is for Apple to meet your needs as far as Aperture goes (and gone it is)

Most professional photographers would beg to differ.

So far the only unresolved issue I've encountered is with shared photostreams.
Every time I try to share a large album, only a subset of the images are shared. For instance, one with almost 400 images only shows 192.

Dec 21, 2015 11:05 AM in response to freediverx01by AFS_BR,Aperture is great for simple retouching/healing, has some great plugins like Noiseware Professional and does a very good job on converting some raw files and doing some adjustments like the auto enhance (fantastic) and lots of other things.
For me, if some feature (like the keyword management) is below my needs, I just use another program to do this specific task and this is perfectly ok to me.
Aperture does some cool tricks like smart albuns, albuns and a very decent version control. For sure its interface if by a large margin the best one.
I'm not talking (and never talked) about quitting Aperture. Au contraire. But it's perfectly possible to use it along with other softwares, then you will be able to go beyond limitations of both.

Ignoring as much as possible is what I have been doing.
I'm just getting tired of clicking the 'not today, bozo' link every day. OK, I added the word 'bozo', but that's how I feel. Some Apple engineer thinks I need and want their puny OS update. I shouldn't have to tell them day after day that I'm not interested.
Has anyone had a negative experience from using Aperture under El Capitan?
