Q: If the display is off on 12 inch macbook, is it asleep?
I have a macbook pro and a 12 inch macbook. The macbook pro has a sleep indicator light that pulsates on and off to tell you it is sleeping. The 12 inch macbook does not have this light. Furthermore, in the settings for Energy Saver, there is no option for putting the computer to sleep, only turning the display off. So am I to assume that if the display is off, then then the computer is sleeping? Or does simply not go to sleep (perhaps because it has solid state drive -- my macbook pro does not have solid state drive -- not sure if this makes a difference or not)? Or does it indeed go to sleep but I won't be able to tell necessarily?
MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

When on battery power, it will go to sleep when the display shuts off. When charging, it will still go to sleep when the display is off unless you clicked "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" in the Power Adapter tab of the Energy Saver system preference pane.
