Q: Transferred Itunes Library to new iMac. Have Apple Music. Now have duplicates of EVERYTHING .. HELP!
I had a 2008 Macbook - with 128GB in my iTunes library. I am signed up with Apple Music.
Apple Music used the Macbook library to create "My Music" in the cloud.
I just got a 2015 iMac. I logged in with my iTunes account. I can see/stream all of "My Music"
I used an external drive to copy/drag my iTunes library from old Macbook onto new iMac.
The problem is: now iTunes on the iMac shows TWO of every song:
-the actual file that I transferred from the old computer
-and the 'uploaded' copy it sees in my Apple Music account.
And then iTunes tried to upload these new copies from my iMac.
The goal: I would like to use the iMac as the main storage for my large music library going forward.
Once I am assured the actual music files are safely / securely on new iMac, without showing a separate cloud version for each, I want to wipe them off of the old Macbook to save space.
I plan to continue using the old Macbook, but want to only stream music on it since it has minimal hard drive space.
So BASICALLY I want the reverse of what I have now...
Instead of the macbook storing my library and the imac streaming it, I want the imac to store it, and the macbook to stream it
I hope I explained that as simply as I could. Please help!!!!
