Q: Cannot reset iMessage to a new number?

I've tried all the tricks from the support site and the posts in this community ... I live in Mexico and had a Telcel chip and switched to Movistar with a new number and now, no matter what I do to troubleshoot it, the old number shows up. Has anyone figured this one out? Os 9.2 iPhone 5s. Thank you, Charles

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.1

Make sure you un-link your old number ... sign off iMessage and FaceTime everywhere before starting this process (in the article).

Thank you sberman, I had tried that before, but just did it again; unfortunately the old greyed out number still shows up. The tragedy is I cannot find my old chip (with the old number on it that I could then deactivate from the Apple site with a code they send) Any other suggestions? I've already reset my password, unlinked and turned off the iPhone, restarted, and signed in with new password ... nada old number greyed out still shows up.

Yep I had tried that earlier - and just did it again - the problem is I cannot receive the deactivation code because I no longer have the chip with the number on it I want to de-register. By the way, my NEW number shows up correctly on Apple's My Support Profile.

    Hi Charles,

i have the exact same problem, I have been trying all the tricks from all the forums for 10 days now... Very frustrating...

had an iPhone 5s on my old number A, got a new iPhone 6s, restored it from iPhone 5s back-up. Using now a new SIM card with a new number B in a new country. Every time I try to reactivity iMessage, I get in greed out roaming my old number B showing in the list, my email is activated properly on both iPhone/iPad/macbook. Only email shows up in iPad and MacBook. But nowhere I can get the new number B, either facetime or iMessage.

I Have also tried to deregister, but the tool is silly... It is sending you a code on the number you want to deregiste... So of course I can't get it...

IT is very frustrating, especially when all post and help tell you the same thing and when you can see you are not the only one stuck...

    HELP much appreciated... Thanks
