Q: GPS problem iPhone 6S

I have problems with my iPhones gps to locate satellites using Waze, NAVIGO and maps all having the same problem. Use to have a 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6 now 6S and during the same line of travel I have never lost contact with satellites. I'm currently running iOS 9.1. I have restarted, re installed, re booted. But get the same result. Do you have any good tips on what to do?

Not sure why people are still complaining, (the very stable) current 9.2 beta already fixes the problem completely, so the final iOS 9.2 will for sure. Just be patient.

There are several reasons people complain:

    • They didn't read the thread before posting, so they don't know what has already been discussed
    • They like to see their own words in public places
    • They like to show their ignorance or laziness
    • They hope that the more complaints there are the faster a problem will be solved

9.2 beta 3 did not fix the GPS on my iPhone 6.  Apple did end up replacing my iPhone, although it had been out of warranty since end of September.  My feeling is it that the 9.1 update caused a hardware failure, as in the iOS 7.0 updates that damaged several iPhone 4s WiFi chips.  In fact, while I was at the Genius Bar, a guy came in with his 4s with the grayed out WiFi button after updating to 9.1.

My GPS went out after installing 9.1.  None of my mapping apps would work with the GPS (Apple Maps, Waze, Google Maps, and my FitBit tracker). After going around and around with Apple Support, they allowed me to pick up a new phone at the local Apple Store Genius Bar, although my phone was out of warranty by a least a month.

    ATTENTION - GOOD NEWS!!

    Dear "apple-friends",

I bought my new iPhone 6s at November and I had the same problem. Poor location of satellites, signal loss, etc. I had to turn off and on GPS (locations settings) every 5-10 minutes and I was very angry...

I joined to the beta, updated my iPhone to iOS 9.2 beta 4 and I did a factory reset. And ... I have no problems today. No problems with GPS and I don't have any other smaller or bigger problems that previously plagued me. My iPhone is so smooth and fast that I myself can't believe it..!!

So, don't worry and enjoy final iOS 9.2..

Go to settings and under cellular, go way to the bottom and look to see if WI-FI Assist is turned on... If it is turned off, turn it on and leave it on. Go for a drive and see that your GPS now works perfectly... I had the same issue where our IT department recommended turning WI-FI assist off because they felt IOS 9.01 was a data hog and they were trying to keep our data plan under control

i got changed my iPhone 6s too and that definitely does not solve the Problem. After installing 9.2 set up as new iPhone seems to solve the problem here in Germany with o2/telefonica.

    Hello,

I've installed the upgrade, an it seems that the issue is closed!

    No problem for me today.

Apple iPhone 6 GPS Accuracy WAY off.

I have exactly the same issue, I have tried everything above and still didn't fix.

    Details:

    • iPhone 6 - 64Gb
    • Vodafone UK
    • iOS 9.2 (12C75)

    Issue:

GPS Is always off by anything from 0.5 miles to 2 miles, and even more erratic when driving, this of course affects all other apps that use the GPS such as fitness apps and Sat Nav / Driving Apps like Waze. You can also tell as the radius in which its locating is stretching is approx 1 mile wide.

I spoke to Apple about this who tried several things but in the end I just performed a full Restore and setting up as a new iPhone and no avail, GPS was still way off, and tested it against my iPad Mini which was locating perfectly. -

Now I am waiting to take the phone into Apple Genius Bar to see what they can do about it, I will update this post once I have had this issue resolved whatever that might be.

I had this problem gps. I solved the problem with a reset of the iPhone, but the bug came back pretty quickly. Is iOS 9.2 solves this problem permanently?

    HI Pakos

its happeneng on 9.2 and weirdly it's been fine up until recently but I can't pinpoint exactly when this issue started. Apple support said to reset and set up as new iPhone as there is the chance that over time bugs in the software could be the issue. But since this didn't resolve I'm pretty sure that it's hardware related. It's going into the Genuis Bar next week so we'll see what they say as they can run a full diagnostics.

    Thanls
