Q: Windows will not boot

I'm panicking, I was in the final stages of prepping my old macbook and new macbook systems and ran chkdsk (not with the /B cause it complained since my system is NTFS) but I think it was right after that my bootcamp partition was not bootable (and its been many weeks since I did a backup and was just about to). It shows up in Disk Utility and hope its just a Master Boot Record or an easy fix, also can't view the bootcamp device or any files in Finder. Tried to delete the Recovery partition and EFI to get a MBR fix...I know enough to be dangerous.

    Skip section A, and execute the steps in section B. The first set looks good. Rebuild the MBR.

    You may want to backup OSX and create a Winclone and keep it safe on an external disk, before we attempt a restore. Please be aware of the issue between 2010 and 2015 Macs.

    Important windows files backed up in the cloud

    Windows system image back up done

    Mac  Time machine back up done

    2015 Mac currently  only single Mac partition, it's supposed to be FAT32? Only FAT is an option.

    What is the work around four  2015 mac block size versus pre-2015 mac block size In Winclone?

    Please tell me the exact model of the 2010 and 2015 Macs. You may need some adapters/cables, but let us start with these two pieces of information. Please do not post the serial numbers of your Macs.

    From MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) - Technical Specifications, you have a TB2 port.

    From MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications , you have a FW800 port.

     

    You will need http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD464LL/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapte r?fnode=8b and a FW800 cable.

     

    We are going to connect the 2015 in Target Disk Mode and erase/format your 2015 Mac internal 'disk' using diskutil commands from the 2010 Mac. If you need anything off of the 2015 Mac, please back up to an external disk.

    And I already have the 2015 mac set up with trimmed down file version of the 2010 Mac.

    With a Winclone image on an external??

    We want to erase the 2015 Mac's internal drive and configure it to be

     

    pre-2015_Mac$ diskutil info / | grep "Block Size"

    Isn't the change from 512 to 4096 block size a performance gain? And wouldn't I want that going forward?
