Q: iPod Touch 5thG backup issue

Hi there,

I have a problem with my iPod Touch 5th Generation. I've recently upgraded to a 6th Generation model and am now in the process of backing up my data ahead of migration.

My iPod version is iOS v9.2, and my iTunes is v12.3.2.35

I took my lightning cable and plugged my iPod into my laptop to attempt a backup, but all attempts ended with the error message:

"iTunes was unable to backup this iPod because the iPod was disconnected"

I tried this with two different cables and the same problem occured.

I then considered using iCloud to perform the backup, so after paying for extra storage I set up wi-fi backup and that didn't work either.

I switched off wi-fi on my iPod and attempted to backup to the laptop, and the error message appeared.

As a last resort, I tried it on my work PC to try and see if it was a laptop issue. I got close to the end... and got the error message again.

Is there any other way to get this sorted?

Thanks.

    Check your security software

    Errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1611, 9006.

Sometimes security software can stop your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.

Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't blocking a connection to the Apple servers.

If you still see the error message, check for USB connection issues.

    Check your USB connections

If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.

To narrow down the issue, try different equipment:

If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues.
