Q: iOS 9 Siri does NOT beep.

I upgraded to iOS 9 and if I hold the home button, Siri does not beep and I feel vibrations. And the sound appears only if I change in Siri´s volume settings the speaker to iPhone or if I swtich off vibrations, but then I don´t have vibrations. I tried to reinstall the software fourtimes, but nothing happens. I don´t know wat is wrong.

UPDATE: there's a work around: Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Vibration>OFF. The iphone WILL double beep afterwards. Warning: if you turn off vibration, the iphone WILL NOT VIBRATE EVEN IN SILENT MODE.

Yes, it will BEEP after your question has been heard. But you can't just tap and release the Home Button to cause a response from Siri, saying "it is listening  –  go ahead with your inquiry". That used to be the case. The committee that decided how Siri would behave is the cause of this bug.

Of course, this is using my definition of a "Bug." I say it's a Bug when a good/noble/useful feature has been deleted by someone who has the power and authority but not the consciousness to know that it was better before they diddled with it.

That new Haptic Click ought to be a part of Siri.

    Consider:

    1. Tap/release the home button to activate Siri. What's the logical response? It ought to be BEEP if Vibration is Off, or Haptic Click if vibration is On.

    2. Tap/hold the home button to activate Siri. What's the logical response? It ought to be to Haptic Click, signaling that it is ready to listen until you release the Home Button and Haptic Click when you let go, no matter what the Vibration setting is.

No one here can do that. Submit feedback.

Turn OFF the "vibration"  IN ACCESSIBILITY -  NOT in "SOUNDS".  My beeps came back immediately.

you loose full vibration funcionality just for a beep. So no, that's not a fix.

Yes, that was meant to be a workaround not a fix. Sorry for not clarifying.

Apple wants you to change the way you use Siri. Rather than having the phone vibrate when holding the home button (or giving you the choice of turning this feature on or off), they have instead removed it completely. They now want you to simply begin speaking - trusting that Siri is in fact listening. The article below explains this "new feature" in detail.

This is consistent with Apple's history of product features. They find a "better" way to do something, then give you only one option: Use it the new way, or don't use it at all. That's not my opinion. It is fact. They have been doing this for years.

I completely agree.  You don't know when you can talk unless you're looking at the screen and I mostly use Siri for directions so I can't be looking at my screen while driving, plus there are usually a lot of pauses when asking for directions and Siri will drop out, but without the beep, you don't know that.

I'm told you can get it with the 'hey Siri' feature turned on, but I really dislike that entire development path and the whole idea of saying it is creepy to me.  Siri is not my 'friend'.  Siri is a tool.  It's just a matter of time before someone figures out how to hack that open mic and listen to everything.
