Q: new email log off account

Hi. I recently connected my apple ID to a new email when I purchased the iPhone 6, and deleted the old email. My old iPhone 4 was still connected to the old email profile, and when I try to wipe the iPhone 4, no password works, because no profile is connected to it. And there is no use in restoring the password because the old email account is deleted. Now im stuck with an iPhone 4 that is "useless". Does anybody know how I can fix this?

    Hello pettermoller,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly, you were still logged in to an iPhone with an old Apple ID, changed said Apple ID to a new email address, and now you're unable to log out.  In order to log out of that iPhone, you will need to temporarily change your Apple ID back to that email address, log out, and then change it back.  For directions please see below.

    Change your Apple ID temporarily

Use these steps to change your Apple ID temporarily:

    1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
    2. Click Edit in the Account section, then click Change Email Address.
    3. Change your Apple ID to the email address that iCloud is asking you to sign in with.
    4. Sign out of your account page.

Then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

    1. Tap Settings > iCloud on your iOS device.
    2. Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
    3. Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device], and enter the password for your Apple ID. Your data remains in iCloud, and it will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
    4. If you're signed in on more than one device with this Apple ID, repeat steps 1-3 on each device.
    5. Go to your Apple ID account page, and sign in again.
    6. Change your Apple ID to the email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
    7. Tap Settings > iCloud on your iOS device, and sign in with your new Apple ID.

If these steps don’t work, change your Apple ID temporarily again. Then sign back in to your Apple ID account page to make sure that your Apple ID was changed.

Whenever you change your Apple ID, remember to update the features and services that you use with Apple ID, so that each one is using your updated Apple ID.

In the future when changing your Apple ID, please make sure and follow the processes outlined in the link below.
