Q: deleting a device

I bought an iPhone6 and transferred the 5s to another member rof my family. Did all the changes (App, files, passwords). However when I open iTunes on my Mac it still shows the 5s and when I close it and close and reopen iTunes it will show again. But it does not show on my iCloud page. How can I delete the device from my iTunes page?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

    Hello there Hymalaya,

It sounds like you are seeing your iPhone 5s when you connect your iPhone 6 to your computer. If you restored a backup of your old phone to your new phone it probably inherited whatever name you gave the old phone. You can rename it in your Settings:

Change the name of your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > About > Name.

    From: Your iPhone name

If that is not the case can you elaborate where you are seeing the phone in iTunes? Or perhaps post a screenshot if there is no personal info showing?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Hello Sterling

Thank you for your reply. Here are the detais:

    1) I bought a new iPhone6 (John) and restored all the app and data on it from my iPhone 5s

    2) the 5s is now used by another member of my family (Francine). We changed all the data, password etc, to her name including the iCloud name and password.

    3) when I start iTunes on my Mac the 5s still shows. But it also shows on Francine's Mac.

    4) On the iCloud page the 5s does not show on my Mac but shows on Francine's.

Alrighty, thanks for the update! That sounds to me like Wi-Fi syncing was enabled for the device in iTunes at some point, even if it appeared to have been syncing to your computer via USB Wi-Fi syncing could still have been enabled. I would check for that setting:

Sync your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iTunes

    1. In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi."

    2. When the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes. Then you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when the following conditions are true:

      • The iOS device is charging.
      •
      • iTunes is open on the computer.
      •
      • The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

We are on the same Wi-Fi network and the issue is that Francine's phone shows on my (John) iTunes screen. All devices are set up to sync over Wi-Fi. I thought that we different passcodes on iCloud, etc,  Francine's phone should not show on my computer.

In addition to my just previous post, your reply lead me to the solution: I unchecked "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" for Francine's phone and that solved the problem. Her phone does no show any more on my iTunes screen.

    Thanks for your help
