Q: can facebook for MAC laptop be used with AOL as my ISP?

I have a MAC Pro running 10.9...I am trying to use FACETIME app on the laptop with AOL as my ISP. Facetime will not accept my email address. Can I use AOL with Facetime? Is there a different problem?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Confused me for a while there. The title says facebook but the question is about facetime.
