Q: What if i don't have a credit card To create an account for a child under 13?

I am trying to create an Apple ID for two kids under the age of 13. It will not allow me to do so without a credit card, but I do not have a credit card. My apple ID has a debit card on file, but it will not let me use my debit card.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

    Greetings Fowlerr85,

I understand that you are attempting to create Apple IDs for two children under 13 years of age, but you are not allowed to use your debit card. The situation you are running in to is expected behavior. To create Apple IDs while using Family Sharing does require a credit card as described in the following article.

Create an Apple ID for your child

Before you begin, make sure that you're using a credit card or UnionPay as your iTunes Store and App Store payment method. To comply with child online privacy protection laws, you will use the CVV, verification code sent via SMS, or security code from a valid payment method as part of providing your parental consent. If the card on file is a debit card or another payment method, you’ll be asked to provide a valid payment method before you can continue. After you create the child's Apple ID, you can change your payment method.
