Dec 25, 2015 8:00 PM in response to GordonBanksby turingtest2,★HelpfulHere are four scripts that can clear or reset album and track auto ratings. They each work on the current selection of tracks in iTunes. The first two work by setting a manual rating of 1% which displays as no stars and should work properly with your smart playlists. The second pair restore the default behaviour. You'll still likely have to do some management as new items are added to your library, but it might make it easier.

Save them in User/Library/iTunes/Scripts with their respective filenames and you can access them from the iTunes menu bar.

Feb 13, 2016 5:31 PM in response to turingtest2by William Fiveash,Thank you very much for this info. This aspect of iTunes has be bugging me recently and I feel a applescript coming on to remedy the shortcomings of iTunes (why did they remove opening playlists in separate windows).
