I understand that you are seeing a red line on your tv when using your new Apple TV. To begin troubleshooting this situation, I would suggest reading over and working through the steps in the following article.
I know your situation isn’t mentioned specifically in the article, but I would suggest the steps in the following three sections: If you can't hear audio or if you see a blank or distorted screen, static, or flickering, If you see black bars or if the picture doesn't fit the screen, and If color, tint, or brightness are incorrect.
