Dec 25, 2015 11:47 AM in response to BobTheFishermanby technology today,Thank you. Since the modem is behind a router (Verizon) is this what you mean by "Power cycle your router then your computer."?
- Power-down the modem, AirPort Time Capsule, and computer.
- Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
- Power-up the AirPort Time Capsule; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
- Power-up your computer.

ApplicationsWith your setup, the Verizon device should be in bridge mode; that is, its routing features, if any, should be disabled.
Launch the AirPort Utility application and open the settings of the Time Capsule. In the Network tab, the menu labeled
Router Mode
should show the selection
DHCP and NAT
If that's not what it shows, please change the setting. Also uncheck the box marked
Enable Access Control
if it's checked. Click the Update button and wait for the device to restart, then test.

Dec 25, 2015 2:22 PM in response to Linc Davisby technology today,My modem does not have a router. It is behind a Verizon router that I do not physically own or have access to. I can only access the settings at: "my home.modem manufacturer's name.com".

Dec 26, 2015 12:11 PM in response to Linc Davisby technology today,UPDATE: My ISP says: "Okay that's the issue as it is a 6100 modem it does not have a feature or wireless option you need to get one wireless router from ups store...I will send you a free modem which is an advanced one..."

Dec 26, 2015 12:30 PM in response to technology todayby BobTheFisherman,Something about how you described your system is not correct. You said you have a wifi router. If you have a router you do not want your ISP's gateway device (modem with router). You can only have one router unless you disable the routing (NAT and DHCP) on one of them if using two. But using two is redundant.

Dec 26, 2015 7:31 PM in response to BobTheFishermanby technology today,I am sorry for confusing you. I have an old Westell modem 6100F provided by my ISP in 2008 and an Airport Time Capsule purchased in 2014. I was of the understanding that I am considered to be "behind" the ISP's router (and therefore a hardware firewall) and I know I have access to the settings at: my home.westell.com.
