Q: Over did it

Is it possible for me to install OS X on a partition?

Okay so here is the story I wanted to create a partition for Windows on my drive but here is what happened i wiped out everything in the process because i formatted the disk so Windows can install so now that i only have WIndows on the whole disk the mac side is gone and i was wondering if i can create a partition and install Mac OS on it?

A:

In order to reinstall Mac OS X again, you are going to have reformat the disk drive back to HFS+ with a partition mapping of GUID.

Once you have done that, you will be able to reinstall Mac OS X again.

Then you can start the Boot Camp process again to create a portition for the installation of Windows.

Is there a way to just create a partition for Mac OS and format that then install Mac OS on it

1. What year/mode is your iMac?
2. What is the version of Windows currently installed?

If Windows was installed via EFI Boot on a GPT partition, it is possible to install OSX by creating a partition. The issue you will run into is if Windows put a standard 104MB Windows EFI and wiped the standard Mac 209MB EFI. Check Windows Disk Management for sizes of partitions.
