Well the 11" says 9 hours of iTunes video playback and 12 hours for the 13".  But that is NOT Safari.  iTunes would be the movie is already on your system, it is encoded for optimal playback via iTunes.

Movies you stream from the web, may require trans-coding (changing the render/pixels from the stream size to the screen size).  The efficiency of the codex you are using will affect performance.  You should look closely at this.  Maybe do some comparisons between video streamed from different sources and the battery consumption.  And compare that against video stored on your Mac (not streamed from the internet).

Looking at the battery % and time remaining is an educated guess on the part of software based on how fast you are drawing power and projecting (guessing) that at that rate of usage, it will run out of power in x:xx hours/minutes.  But it is a guess.  It is also an educated guess as to how much power a battery has.  The battery does not have a meter that can measure the number of electrons available, like a gas tank can measure the level of gas in the tank.  The software needs to guess based on statistics.  The battery, when manufactured has an assumed amount of power for that battery based on testing a lot of those batteries.  Then the software measures the amount of current flowing out of the battery and at what voltage to keep track of how much power has been used.  It then calculates how much power was used, how much is left.  HOWEVER, every time you drain some power the battery degrades.  When you charge it back up it degrades just a little.  Over time the battery will start to hold less and less power.  Again based on statistics from testing the battery model and a history of this kind of battery, the software is designed to factor in that degradation into its guesses.  It is rather complex.

NOTE:  It is not great to drain the battery to zero all the time.  That stresses the battery more than drain some random amount/charge cycle.  I'm not saying keep it plugged in all the time, nor am I saying charge at a specific %.  Just try to avoid draining all the way all the time.

Bottom line is that the % is a guess.  The x:xx hours/minutes of life is a guess.  And depending on the current demand you are making on the battery at the time you look at the % and x:xx values will reflect that usage.

If you think our Mabook Air is not lasting as long as your expect, then make a Genius Bar appointment at an Apple Store to have it evaluated.

You are reading the battery icon incorrectly. That time report is hours and minutes, not minutes. It read "four hours, 52 minutes."

Allan Jones: I read correctly but just I write wrongly

BobHarris:You are right  ,I should probably do like that .

    Thanks for help.
