Q: passcode setting can only be set to immediately

I have TouchId and passcode setup in order to use Wallet and to use Touchid with apps. In settings It now shows use passcode immediately when I had set it twice before to 1 hour. keeps changing and now only immediately is selectable. No other options shown. So in effect I cant use my finger print to unlock phone. I don't have passcode set to require this. Its either being set to immediately that's causing my issues with not recognizing my print or there are issue with finger prints. Any suggestions?

I have an iPhone 6s.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2, itunes at latest level

If you have Touch ID enabled, the only option available is to have it require a passcode immediately. That is how it's supposed to work.nI think you're misunderstanding it, though. You can use either the Touch ID or the typed in passcode when the device locks. Touch ID is considered a type of passcode.

OK that explains it - passcode is either a number or fingerprint and why setting is immediately. Manual does explain this. Thats why I always prefer a hardcopy manual with expansive documentation. Viewing a limited content doc on a phone is tedious. I love manuals - was in IT for over 30 years and with mainframes, you get hundreds of hardcopy reference books so you can fully understand product - hardware/software.

Now if only the fingerprint keeps working consistently. So far things are OK at first but later on phone or apps dont accept fingerprint.

    Thanks.

Delete all your finger prints and re-add. They may have gotten corrupted.

I did for the 3rd time - maybe thats the charm. So far using my thumb is working OK for unlock and the 2 apps that use TouchID.

If you keep having problems, I'd suggest making an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store. You might have a hardware issue. I've had to reset my finger prints (I have four registered) once and that was a known issue in some older version of the iOS that's since been corrected. So, you shouldn't have to be doing that.
