Q: Message says Windows 10 is not supported by Bootcamp

After I installed Windows 10 and start Bootcamp, I get a message that says Bootcamp does not support this version of Windows.  When will Apple be updating BootCamp?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Those are good suggestions, but I want to wait until Apple releases a real Win10 upgrade for Bootcamp.  I found that after I installed Windows 8.1, then ran the Bootcamp, all the drivers installed fine and I did not have to shoe-horn anything in.  I tried running (the current) Bootcamp after the Win10 upgrade and was informed Bootcamp was not supported on the OS.

Is there a direct link for Bootcamp?

    1. Please see Re: Direct download of Boot Camp 6 drivers .

    2. Verify that the bootcamp.xml shows 6.x as Product Version. BC5 drivers which came from W8.1 do not all work on W10.

Thank you, LonerT; now I know what I am looking for.

The .XML file on my Bootcamp version is: <ProductVersion>5.1.5621</ProductVersion>

so that is why is is not working for me. I will look for the revised .XML file (to V6) from that vendor site above. I found the Bootcamp Upgrade site on Apple, but I have to sort through what the site is actually saying.  I have a working version of 8.1; all I need is the troth of updated drivers for Win10.

I found the Apple Bootcamp support website (Apple - Support - Downloads ), but the most current version of the install package is ProductVersion>5.1.5769

Do you know when Apple will be offering an update?

Apple already offers the updates as noted in the link I posted? Can you try the OSX BC Assistant and download the BC6 package to a USB?

Once you have it on USB, please check the Product Version.

Question -- getting the message  "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed" when I try and run it from my Win8.1 partition.  Do I need to be upgraded to Windows 10 for this to work?

    1. Please check Product Version in Bootcamp.xml of the BC packages you get this message from.

    2. Are you running W8.1 or W10? W10 requires 6.x BC package, W8.1 can only use 5.x BC packages.

    3. The BC package should meet the Windows OS version and your Mac model, both.

I've downloaded all the most current drivers for the Mac and did a very CAUTIOUS upgrade to Windows 10... and so far, everything is working!  The system just came up; Wireless and sound are working.  I am running a full backup on the system before proceeding with patching (a working, functional sync point is always nice...).
