Q: MacBook Pro Retina 15 in. mid-2014 Screen Glitch

Last night I did the usual - I shut my laptop down, unplugged, and went to work from bed on it.  Once I was done there, I shut it down, unplugged it and set it on my nightstand.  I wake up this morning, go to check my emails in preparation for the Monday Flood of Horrors and there's this delightful little screen glitch on the bottom of my screen that mirrors the top of my screen.  I've attempted the NVRAM reset, hoping that would work - HUGE NOPE.  I have attempted to screenshot the issue, but it doesn't take.  I grabbed some shots with my phone, which are attached.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?  If so, would anyone happen to have a fix? Something that doesn't involve shipping my only machine off .. lol!

Thanks!

Does it mean that the issue does not appear in the screenshot? In that case, maybe something is going on with the display.

At this point, I suggest you to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get it diagnosed, because this looks like a hardware issue. Does that issue show up all the time your Mac is turned on?

    Hi Mende1,

Yes, that is what I mean.  When I screenshot it does not show up in the screenshot.  The only way to capture the glitch was with my camera on my phone.

I'm thinking the same thing as well... I was really just hoping I wouldn't have to do that.  I live in the middle of freaking nowhere, so finding an Apple store will be fun, LOL

Thank you for your comment and help

If your Mac is in warranty, you can try contacting Apple by phone for help without taking your Mac in. Also, your Mac came with Apple Diagnostics, an application that you can use in order to diagnose the issue yourself (hold down both Alt and D keys while your Mac is starting up to use it) -> Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support

    Hi there,

Thanks for the information.  I did try that, and it's showing no issues at all in the diagnostics.  I have hooked the laptop to my external display and I am seeing no glitch there.  So this is obviously a hardware issue of some sort, so I guess it's off to the apple store for me... huzzah. lol  Thanks for your help
