Q: Itunes movie is in the cloud and my storage hasn't been returned.

A few years ago, I bought a Bluray disc that allowed me to download the movie to any device though iTunes. I went through the process and downloaded the movie to my iPod (which was about 5 GB of data/storage space). I looked at it again recently and it appears to have been moved to the cloud with not sign of receiving my 5 GB of storage back and I can no longer watch the movie without a wi-fi connection (which I was previously able to do). What happened and how can I either get my storage back or not lose storage to get it back on my device like before?

    Hello, SparkleSnowQueen.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I see that you received a digital copy with your Blu-ray purchase and can only play this item when on Wi-Fi.  What you are experiencing is normal behavior.  If the movie is not downloaded to the iPad, you do have the option to stream this movie when connected to a Wi-Fi network.  Here is more information regarding digital copies on the streaming feature.

Redeem digital copies of DVDs or Blu-rays in iTunes

Stream or download? If the iCloud icon appears on a video thumbnail, you can watch it without downloading it to iPad, if you have an Internet connection. To download the video to iPad so you can watch without using a Wi-Fi or cellular connection, tap the download button in the video details.

    Videos at a glance

Since you do not want to stream this movie, the best option would be to make the movie available offline by downloading it via your past purchases.  This article will walk you through the download process.

    Download your past purchases

    Cheers

I had the same issue. It technicallay is still an issue with my new ipad pro, so I think it's just software. What I have to do to reclaim memory of a movie no longer on my iPad or previously streamed is to log out of iTunes on the device and log back in (sometimes i need to reboot before logging back in).
