Dec 28, 2015 12:55 PM in response to ahnaheedby my ginger,Yes. You can use the disk utilities in the Mac to do so. But first, are you going to use this for dual purposes on Mac and PC? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201909 If you plan to use half for mac and half for windows, here is some more info. http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-share-external-hd-mac-windows/ If you want the Mac to be able to use the windows part also then do not have NTFS as the formate.

Dec 28, 2015 3:02 PM in response to ahnaheedby jjzone44,You may also want to check the documentation that came with the external drive. I have a Seagate 1TB that is NTFS and I use it for both my Mac and Windows PCs. There was a link in the documentation that allowed me to download a utility that I install on each Mac that enables read/write operation on the drive. It is a proprietary software, but because I bought the drive I was able to download a Seagate only version of it to enable writes from the Mac to the drive.
