Q: Strange glitch on my multicam clips during playback!

Hello,

I am running FCP X and have been working on a project with multiple camera angles. For whatever odd reason, when I get to the multi-cam section during playback, I get this strange (what seems to be a blinking motion) back and forth switching between the series of clips I have in my sequence. I am not actually editing this project in "Multi-Cam Mode" but I have been using the transform tool to resize all 6 of my clips into rows of 3 individual video squares across the main screen. There's only about 2 clips in which it doesn't seem to do this back and forth fidgeting between different clips as it plays back. If there's anything that can be done Id appreciate it so much!! I'm on a strict deadline for this project so the sooner I can fix this the better! Anyone have any ideas? If this description is not clear enough to understand, I would be more than happy to send a short iPhone video or pictures of what I'm experiencing in my FCP X system. Thank you!

    In my words:

you have stapled 6 clips over each other in the timeline and via Transform/making smaller you arranged them 'Brady Bunch'-style, am I correct?

On playback, your Mac has to deliver six streams of video simultaneously - which is a lot. And let me guess: all clips are on the same drive/on your internal HDD? (omg!)

Have you tried to export that section, just to test how it looks finally rendered?

Correct Karsten! Thank you for your speedy reply!!

I pretty much stapled everything brady bunch style all 6 across the screen! It actually only does this glitch after being rendered!! Not during pre-render.

I have one other sequence in the video where I kept one video layer as the main clip which covers the entire screen, and then resized 2 other layers via Transform to fit one on the top left corner and one on the top right corner with the main clip still covering majority of the screen. So in total, 3 video layers (which I've done before with no problem). And there is no glitch between that sequence even after rendering. I have no idea what to think of the "Brady Bunch" sequence. Would 3 more extra clips be just enough to overload my cpu and make it do that?

    Are you using proxies?

whoo, 'pro' territory, not my kind of stuff.

I remember 'issues' with that format in the past, so first question should be: what vers. of FCPX are you using?

Yeah apparently there's many issues with that format although it's to MP4. I'm using FCP X 10.2.2

    that should do it.

You don't have any 'old' plug-ins installed? you let FCPX handle the import, no 'manual' conversion with that material?
