Q: Where to download Safari for OSX Yosemite?

I was having trouble with Safari on my Mac desktop (OSX Yosemite) so I uninstalled it.

 

Anyone know where I can download a new Safari 9.0.2 install without having to upgrade to El Capitan?

    You will need to reinstall OS X. There is no standalone download for Safari.

     

    Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive

     

    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears.

     

    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.

     

    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the indented Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.

     

    Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

     

    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless and more reliable.

    Safari cannot be uninstalled nor can it be downloaded on its own. Its built into OSx.

     

    What exactly did you do to it?

     

    Have you looked for it in the Applications folder in Finder, or Launchpad?

    According to this page, you can download and install Safari from the App Store.

     

    Get the latest version of Safari for your Mac - Apple Support

     

    Much faster than reinstalling the entire OS if it's correct.

    Was having trouble with Safari. Thought I'd uninstall using CleanMyMac. Then reinstall. ooops.

    I suggest that you get rid of CleanMyMac. In my testing of it, I discovered that it has a habit of removing bits and pieces of the system.

     

    Once you get rid of CMM then reinstall OS X once again and see if that helps.

    Uhhm.. From that link:

     

    Safari is included with OS X. To get the most recent version of Safari, install the most recent version of OS X from the Mac App Store.

    To keep Safari updated for your version of OS X, install all available Safari and OS X updates.

     

     

    Anyway,unfortunately, you will need to restore OSx to get Safari back now. Also as others have said, remove CleanMyMac it does more harm than good.
