Dec 29, 2015 11:26 AM in response to sbkrepsby sbkreps,ok, I figured out that my podcasts were not being stored on my pc but to an external drive. That external drive is always plugged in, but iTunes sometimes seems unable to find the stuff that's on there, and sometimes finds it just fine. So I think maybe it's a problem with the external drive.... so never mind and thanks anyway!

Dec 29, 2015 11:46 AM in response to sbkrepsby turingtest2,Try using Ctrl+B to enable the menu bar if hidden, then use Edit > Preferences > Playback and look at the entry for Play Audio Using. This will normally be set to either Direct Sound or Windows Audio Session. Changing to the other setting may sometimes help.
Otherwise see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates, tear it all down, and reinstall.
