Q: Turn Off Voice Control? iPhone 6

It would appear that my Apple Home button is defective on my iPhone 6.

Originally, Siri would activate whenever she pleased, record conversations and was generally annoying.

First, I made sure "Ask Siri" was off. It is.

Then, turned off Siri entirely.

Now, as it would have it, "Voice Control" is still activated. It turns on without warning, and calls random contacts in my phone.

The phone remains off, and will stay off until this can be resolved.

The nearest Apple Store is 400+ miles away, so that is not a current option as of now.

How do I turn off Voice Control completely? At least until I can bring it into an Apple Store (and NOT a "Certified Apple repair store")

Thank you for your time,

Applesauce

I should add, it will also not update to the newest iOS 9.2 for unknown reasonings.

I wanted to add an update,

As I was searching through the threads, I found away to disable "Voice Calling."

But "Voice Control" is still active.

My phone is currently having a very uncomfortable conversation with it's self about wanting to call someone, but now voice calling is deactivated. And therefor, the conversation now loops.

    Please help.

I am having the exact same issue. I have my phone just sitting on my desk at work when out of no where Siri will come on. I didn't touch the phone, I don't have headphones plugged in. It just comes on all by it's self. This is a huge inconvenience for me as I work in an area where we are on the phones all of the time and if I don't catch it in time to press the home button to stop the voice command then Siri comes on and starts to record what I am saying to my caller and then replies that she didn't understand. At which point I get to explain to the person on the other end of the line that my phone is haunted.

Please fix this issue or tell me how to turn this off forever. I have been a loyal apple user for many years. I don't want to switch my phone because of a security issue.

Generally, you either have Voice Control or Siri. See this support document about Voice Control. Tips for using Voice Control with iPhone and iPod touch - Apple Support

As you have found, you can turn of Voice Dial, but certain aspects of Voice Control are still active, such as Music.

    Wow, well that *****.

Nothing is wrong with the phone other than Voice Control constantly turning on.

She just talks to herself over and over and over. I have to keep the phone off at night because it keeps me awake.

There doesn't even appear to be a way to turn the sound lower so it's not as loud.

Doesn't really seem like enough to buy a whole new $800 phone.

Hopefully the Apple Store can fix it, but I still have a few more days before I'm close enough to one.

If you have Siri turned off and the device continues to talk as you say, then it appears there could be a problem with your home button. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the device looked at.
