If the sound from your Mac's internal speaker only plays when earphone jack is plugged in, try inserting and removing the headphone jack a couple of times to see if it switches back to internal audio. There is nothing wrong with my internal speakers. The only problem is the internal microphone. It does not pick up sound unless there is a pair of earphones plugged in. So far I have yet to find a solution for this. Thanks for the response!

select the internal microphone from the list, speak to the mic, adjust the input volume and check the level indicator
