Feb 11, 2014 7:12 AM in response to AuzzyBearby mario49,Hello AuzzyBear,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Models): Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4249
Follow the steps below, testing after each step.
- Check for a carrier settings update:
- Make sure your device is connected to the Internet.
- Tap Settings > General > About.
- If an update is available, you'll be asked if you want to install it. Tap Update.
- Update your iPad with the latest version of iOS.
- Toggle the Cellular Data setting off and on under Settings > Cellular Data.
- Restart your iPad.
- Tap Settings > General > About. Locate the Carrier entry and make sure that your carrier is correct.
- If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Cellular Data > SIM PIN.
- Make sure you're in an area of good coverage. If the cellular data connection works in another area, contact your carrier to report the original affected area.
- Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Restore the iPad as new.
Have a nice day,
Mario

Feb 25, 2014 8:26 PM in response to mario49by Abdullah.R,Hi,
I followed the steps you've listed, but I'm still getting the same problem. I have an iPad Air, it connects to 3G but the internet won't work. If you have another solution it'll be great. Thank you

Dec 30, 2015 5:00 AM in response to AuzzyBearby Rene Staeger,I am having the same Issue. None of the above resolved the problem.
I noticed when I force it to connect to 4g it works. And sometimes (same location/position of iPad on the 3g network it can work)
Also I have noticed the problem in various locations (Cities etc). (Country Switzerland Salt provider)
So I guess this has to be a iPad problem, I never encounter this problem with the iPhone 6s, 5s and 4s (done the tests).
Is this a known HW defect?

Dec 30, 2015 5:27 AM in response to Rene Staegerby mdesignffm, check back with your 3G/4G provider.
check which 3G/4G frequencies your ipad supports. if it is an ipad bought in switzerland from an official apple dealer or reseller in switzerland, frequencies should be fine. if it is an import, certain frequencies might not work. 3G and 4G work with different frequencies in different countries. check on wikipedia.
-
Dec 30, 2015 10:20 AM in response to mdesignffmby Rene Staeger,no the frequencies are ok else the iPhone or the other iPad of my sister would not work.
This looks more like a HW problem. (I have tested it with another provider too in 3G same problem good connection but no internet acces).
iPhone's work fine in 3g or 4g/LTE mode. Only the ipad is giving problem in 3G mode.

Dec 30, 2015 10:51 AM in response to Rene Staegerby mdesignffm,hi rene,
this is not a question of your iphone or your sister's ipad working or not. it is a question of your ipad being an import or not. you did not answer this.
in case your ipad really makes a stable network connection (supporting swiss frequencies) but does not get an internet connection with 2 different providers, this is definitely not a hardware issue. hardware does network, software does internet. so there is something wrong with software.
but please state the origin of your ipad first to make sure. thank you.

Dec 30, 2015 11:19 AM in response to mdesignffmby Rene Staeger,Import? I am in Switzerland and bought it in Switzerland. So that is not of an issue. Thanks for you thoughts though
And HW yes it can be when the 3g part is defective. does not need to be SW. And certainly not when at the same location with same service providers and different HW one does not work while others work. I have done the trouble shooting and can 90% rule out the service privider Issue. But does not mean that the SW did not get installed proberly of the service provider. So next test will be to backup and the fatory reset and check again if in fact it might be a SW related issue.
(but right now not in the mood of going through that hole procedure)

Dec 30, 2015 11:55 AM in response to Rene Staegerby mdesignffm, install software from
https://salt-ch.qelp.com/resources/de-de/ios/internet-apn.mobileconfig
should give you proper network settings. restart your ipad.

Dec 30, 2015 4:50 PM in response to mdesignffmby Rene Staeger,Thanksf for the help.... but like I already wrote I have done the trouble shooting. Nothing helped, included reinstalling the service provider SW (from Swisscom and Salt) both does not work. But with other HW it works. So I am more then ever convinced now it is a HW defect. And I am going to send it to Apple for repairs. The problem does not seam to be SW nor Service provider related.

Feb 20, 2016 1:10 AM in response to AuzzyBearby Svarma,Hi there, I had a similar problem with my iPhone 6S Plus. What had happened was that i switched carrier and I did not realise that my old carrier settings had made a profile on my phone, causing my iPhone to be using the wrong settings.
what i did was
Settings > Profiles (its at the bottom) > Select your old carrier settings and delete them.
This instantly helped my phone connected to the wireless network.
I hope this helps!
Good luck
