Q: Power PC G5 audio is locked out, unworking. How to solve? Have tried Preferences/audio
Recently, my Power PC G5 lost audio after trying to run a damaged DVD. When I tap audio buttons on keyboard, an icon -circle with dash thru it- appears showing sound is locked out though sound level shows completely on at highest level. I have tried Preferences-Audio and no device registers on Output. I have removed any input device wires to no avail. Any ideas please? Thank you in advance.

There's the PRAM reset (same instruction as NVRAM reset) that does
sometimes have relationship to audio issues & their resolution:
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Not sure what the actual cause of this issue may be, however it may be
a matter of troubleshooting to attempt to resolve the matter by using the
power management reset to see if that helps. Or at least tell if the problem
is more or less hardware verses software. There are different names that
pertain to the power control chip & reset methods. SMC, SMU, PMU, etc.
There may some chance of helpful response in your iMac G5 by a reset:
