Dec 31, 2015 4:05 PM in response to mcar4uby Allan Jones,The original iPad cannot be upgraded past iOS 5.1.1. Anything higher required an iPad 2 or higher. Can you please clarify which model you have?

Dec 31, 2015 5:19 PM in response to Allan Jonesby mcar4u,I have the original ipad. I have restored it twice to original and then updated the ios. I am running 9.1.2 now. I am thinking that I will do another restore back to the original ios and not update. I usually close other aps when I an finished using them to run faster. I am not sure why I can run 9.1.2 but that is what I am running now.
Thanks for the reply. I will do a restore.

Dec 31, 2015 5:34 PM in response to mcar4uby fan28,Here's a link to help you identify your exact iPad model. While I'd be thrilled to hear you were running an original iPad with iOS 9, I just don't think it's possible. If, for example, your iPad has a camera, that's not an original iPad.

You cannot do that. You can only get the current IOS version.

Because your iPad is not the original iPad but is an iPad 2 or newer. The IOS update routines will not allow 9.1.2 on the original iPad.

Dec 31, 2015 7:07 PM in response to mcar4uby LACAllen,First, I don't believe there was a v 9.1.2... iOS went from 9.1 to 9.2 on Dec. 8, 2015.
Second, here is the end of life notice (aka terminal update for) for an original iPad, which is iOS 5.1.1 as has been noted in this thread.
iOS 9.2 will install on an iPad 2 (I have this) but many users gripe about it slowing the unit down, as do iPhone 4s users.
