Q: apps for ios 4.2.1

I have bought two of my children second hand ipods, 2g i beleive (but vwere advertised as 3g) for xmas (last of the big spenders i know but in my defense i do have 6 kids!) only to discover that no apps appear to work with them. they are thoroughly disapointed, as am i, but surely there must be some still available that will work? is there a list anywhere of compatible apps for ios 4.2.1?

all i can find on the www is to get apps the ipod must be jailbroken and im not brave enough to attempt that!

hope somewone can help, many thanks in advance, carol

This search will find you a list of apps compatible with iOs 4.2 and earlier.

Copy the whole string of words, slashes and quotes below, and paste it in the google search window. Some are paid, some free. Don't throw out a functioning iTouch!

Thank you! That did the trick. I was looking for a simple app to play "white noise" to get my baby to fall asleep using my old 2G iPhone, and this did it! I searched manually at first but almost all apps that popped up on the AppStore kept saying "You need. 6.0 or you need 7.1"..so it got annoying really quickly. I even tried following a manual online that  would allow my old 2G iphone to operate like a new iPhone...nope, just a headache that wouldnt restore the phone as promised. So this was a simple solution. Thanks so much!

I have spent a LOT of time in the app store and have compiled a long list of apps in my notes section of what apps I can download. instead of getting an apple device,I would suggest getting an android device because you can download updates in settings easy.apple needs to do jailbreaking and updates are complicated.Android's updates are also free to use

Androids bug easily and even jailbreaking has been more stable than androids. Not to mention people still root their androids which have issues a lot durning a failed root.
