I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your MacBook Air getting hot. Let's see if we can figure out what is going on.
What comes to mind is that it might be related to an application that might be using the CPU more than other apps. Take a look at the article below to walk you through using Activity Monitor to find the culprit and to stop that app.
